Yet when her flirtations abruptly end, Dante becomes suspicious. She’s hiding something, something big, and unless he can convince her to trust him, their entire pack could be in danger. He knows hot-headed Jaime will resist him…but Dante never takes no for an answer.

Author Suzanne Wright, a native of England, can’t remember a time when she wasn’t creating characters and telling their tales. Even as a child, she loved writing poems, plays, and stories; as an adult, Wright has published three novels, Here Be Sexist Vampires, From Rags, and Feral Sins, the first book in the Phoenix Pack series. Wright, who lives in Liverpool with her husband and two children, freely admits that she hates housecleaning and can’t cook but that she always shares chocolate.

Fanfreakingtastic - Mild spoilers
By RVAbooklover
There is no way to write a review without some spoilers, but I will stick to very minor ones.
I read Here Be Sexist Vampires by Suzanne Wright several months, a year? I don't know, ago, and really liked it. At that time, it was the only book available by this author. I shrugged, though I was disappointed. So it was a happy surprise when this title turned up in the Vine offerings for this month.
I have been reading PNR since before it was an actual category, and I have to say, I really liked this story. Is any new ground covered? No, not really. Anything unique to add to the vast PNRland out there? Um, not so much. So what makes Wicked Cravings so special and memorable? The characters. It is all about the characters.
Though this is the second book in the Phoenix Pack series, I have not read the first as yet. I was in no way lost, although it was obviously a sequel to something. Dante is the pack Beta, a dedicated workaholic who has intimacy issues. Jamie is a newcomer to the Phoenix Pack, and has some secrets she is not willing to share. What she would like to share is Dante's bed, and that is not a secret. However, when she overhears Dante make a disparaging remark about her, she has had enough of throwing herself at the dominant male. Dante is charmingly chagrinned by Jamie's decision to leave well enough alone when it comes to him.
While there are external conflicts in the plot (a former lover makes a reappearance, Jamie's secret, some yahoos and a lying skank from another pack make trouble), most of the conflict comes from Dante and Jamie trying to find a way to coexist. *****MILD SPOILER***** Due to Jamie's secret, Dante is under the impression that Jamie is a submissive wolf, and she is inclined to let him think that until an event occurs that makes it obvious to Dante that Jamie is anything but submissive.
What worked for me - Dante is a dominant to die for. Get your fan handy because Dante will cause hot flashes even during the non sexy scenes. Jamie says the guy is good with his mouth repeatedly, and she is not kidding. Dante uses his words exceedingly well. (You thought I meant something naughty, didn''t you? If so, you will LOVE this book!) He is commitment phobic, self centered and not at all versed in the ways of relationships. But he tries. So hard. And screws up pretty mightily a few times. Dante admits when he is wrong, and shows Jamie over and over how important she is to him. Oh, I just melted.
Jamie - I love me a smart mouthed heroine, and Jamie is a master. She is snarky and irreverent, with a low tolerance for rules and no flight instinct. She is a strong woman, and a good friend, and so much fun. Jamie has been halfway in love with Dante since she was a child, and time has done nothing to diminish her feelings for him. Jamie is reluctant to believe that Dante could want her for anything more than a fling, and she isn't willing to tie herself to one person, anyway. Although she wants to with Dante, she is afraid of long term repercussions. Jamie kind of reminds me of Sara in Shelly Laurenston's Mangus Pack. Without the abundance of crazy.
The Phoenix Pack - Oh, I hope, I hope, I HOPE all of the single males get their own story. Especially Dominic, because what a fun story that will be! I loved how developed and distinct each pack member was. Ms. Wright has a real talent for character development, fleshing out a personality in a matter of a few words. Beautiful.
The writing - Splendid pacing, love how the story unfolded, LOVED how Dante and Jamie found their way to each other...As referenced above, I have read the vast majority of PNR out there. Wicked Cravings reminds me a lot of Nalini Singh's packs in her Psy-Changeling series. The same closeness, the detail to pack life, the humor...the sex scenes remind me of a cross between Lora Leigh and Keri Arthur. They are explicit and plentiful, so consider yourself warned if that isn't your thing.
What didn't work for me - Not much. I just had one Wha? moment when we meet Dante's ex. Because she is just awful, and I couldn't see anyone, much less Dante, falling for her nasty self. Other than that, I was a happy reader, beginning to end.
Bottom line - I am going to purchase the first Phoenix Pack book, as well as the sequel to HBSV, and read myself into a Suzanne Wright induced stupor! Time very well spent. If you enjoy Nalini Singh or Cynthia Eden, you owe it to yourself to give this a try.

Graphic Paranormal Romance and Guilty Pleasure
By A Book a Day
I've been following Suzanne Wright ever since I read her first book Here Be Sexist Vampires (The Deep In Your Veins Series) and have read every book since with great enjoyment. The humor and graphic sexual content is very wicked and admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine, but there's also a real story built in there that can, at times, pull at the heartstrings. If you've read Feral Sins, then you know what to expect from dirty talk and alpha over the top dominant werewolves. If not, then this might hit you from left field since it's a notch more explicit than a Laurann Dohner or Lauren Dane and makes Maya Banks tame. Bottom line, it's dirty. I would recommend reading Feral Sins first since there are many characters that are introduced in more detail in the first book that may seem insignificant or distracting in the sequel. The only downside to this particular installment is that it too closely mirrors the first in personalities. Although the storyline is completely unique, our heroine's personality is exactly like Taryn from the first book right down to her interactions with the Trey's grandmother, and Dante is just like Trey when it comes to possessive sexual alpha males... it essentially took some of that magic I felt in the first book away.
After the Phoenix pack defeated their alpha's uncle during the first book, a few of their old pack members were allowed to join the Phoenix pack. One such person is Jamie Farrow who has always had a crush on the pack beta, Dante Garcea, since they were little kids. Jamie would love to get down and dirty with Dante, but she's not interested in anything permanent for fear that her secret could get out. Dante has always been drawn to Jamie, but he won't date anyone in his pack for fear that his truemate may come along and make things awkward. He knows exactly how that situation can ruin lives and he wants nothing to do with it, but when Jamie gets his message loud and clear and moves on from him, he and his wolf begin to panic and we find the pursuer becoming the pursued.
I personally found this storyline to present a greater obstacle to being together than the first making the challenges very real as opposed to miscommunications or stubborn behavior. It even had me tearing up a bit over their plight. It was a little slow to start, but found its rhythm and set the stage nicely for the next story which I'm hoping will be Shaya's story. Dare I say there was almost too much sex that came off as repetitive and made it longer than necessary. There is back door action and Dante is pretty obsessed with it, so if that's not for you, be forwarned. There is not a group scene for others who didn't care for it in the first... Dante definitely does not share. Otherwise, it's a nice continuation from a refreshing new voice in paranoral erotic romance with plenty of material to continue a great series.

Wicked Cravings
By K. Hill
I should preface my review by saying that I have not read book one in this series. If you have, what I found to be a con about this book may not apply to you.
PLOT: Jaime has had a crush on Dante since she was a kid. After overhearing a conversation where he says she's not his type, she gives up on him. What she doesn't know is that he's wanted her all along but he's been avoiding relationships because of his commitment to his job.
PROS: I like the concentration that the author gave to Jaime and Dante's developing relationship. This isn't one of those stories where they argue the whole thing through only to be happy ever after at the end.
There are plenty of interesting characters that I wouldn't mind reading more about.
CONS: 1. I never liked Jaime. It's more like I tolerated her. A sassy character is like salt in a dish. A dash is great; add too much and the result is inedible. I think she was supposed to come off as funny and dominant. What she comes across as is childish, reckless, and irresponsible. From her constant use of "whatfreakingever," which makes her sound like a teen from whenever that used to be overused, to her choice to go out to a club when she knows she can't control her wolf, she makes poor and immature decisions.
2. There isn't enough plotting here to support 400 pages. While I liked that Jaime and Dante's relationship is the main focus of this book, after a while, it seems like they are thrown into one redundant situation after another. It's proven over and over that they are possessive of one another. Dante is dominant and controlling, but Jaime will not allow him to control her. Jaime is having difficulty controlling her wolf and could be a danger. 400+ pages of this.
3. Maybe this is answered in book one, but what happened to her parents? Why were they attacked? What happened to the attackers? Even if this is answered in book one, it should be reiterated in this book since it's the cause of Jaime's trauma. I kept expecting this to be better explained, but it never was.
4. Jaime calls Dante Popeye with no explanation whatsoever. Does he eat spinach, smoke a pipe, have weirdly shaped arms or have a face like a catcher's mitt? It's an ugly and irritating nickname.
5. Jaime and Dante are the bickering type of couple that I'd actively avoid in real life.
2.5 - 3 STARS: Largely, the author and I do not share the same sense of humor. I thought Dominic's pick-up lines were funny, but that's about it. Since humor is subjective, I didn't list it as a con. Obviously, many people enjoyed this book.
